About Me

I’m Dan Eckam, a software developer, writer, and occasional graphic designer living in Austin, Texas. I have a B.S. in computer science (1993) and a B.F.A. in studio art (1990) from the University of Texas at Austin. I am very interested in democratic theory and how we should reform our political system in the U.S. to improve accountability and promote the public interest.

I am the author of Beyond Two Parties: Why America Needs a Multiparty System and How We Can Have It, a book published in 2019. I spent over five years researching and writing this book because I am convinced that Americans could have a much healthier democracy with a multiparty system, and that there is a feasible way for us to get there.

This website features my writings on various subjects I find interesting. Most of the articles concern politics, but you’ll also find writings on other subjects. I hope you find them to be of some value.
